
The parameter ‘ -a‘ Displays current ARP entries by interrogating the current protocol data. Here, ‘ arp‘ is the command that ” Displays and modifies the IP-to-Physical address translation tables by using address resolution protocol (ARP)”. Once in the command prompt, type “ arp -a” without quotes and press enter. You can also right-click on the ‘Start menu’ icon on the taskbar and then select “Command Prompt (Admin)”. To do so you can write ‘cmd’ in the search box and then right-click on it and select “Open as administrator”. In Windows, open a command prompt window in Administrator mode. I’ll also show how to retrieve a list of all connected devices in a network, on Windows 10.

In this post, I am going to continue from the former post (Access Point on RPi3) using the latter (ARP), to find all devices that have ever connected to the router (when the RPi3 was connected to it) and all devices connected to the access-point on the Raspberry Pi. I have shown that ARP cache, a special cache storage is used to save important data of all connected devices. In another post, I wrote about an important protocol in the OSI layer, known as Address Resolution Protocol (ARP). The RPi3 is also connected to a router via Ethernet that provides the necessary internet connection to share with the client devices. This can in turn, share data between the RPi3 and the connected devices. This allows the Raspberry Pi 3 to behave like a wireless router and lets other WiFi devices connect to it.
